More DIY potence style lamps

by 1 March 03, 2011

I made a DIY potence style lamp a few weeks ago after seeing one and getting curious if I could do it or not. Last weekend I made a few more for a friend and my mom. I did a few things differently this time and tried out some new colors. What do you think?

Supremely jealous of your friend and mother. When can we see you selling these? I count the days!
They are really amazing.

I saw the original post via Apartment Therapy. I went back to your site to check out the link again and came across your update. I really like how the light looks in white. The light wood (oak? hard to tell from pic) handle was a good choice. Your house is looking really good. Keep up the hard work. It’s paying off!

Thanks alot! I really appreciate that. The wood on the white lamp is poplar (cheapest wood you can buy, that’s almost always painted).

It would be nicer if the bulb is perfectly perpendicular to the floor. Right now it looks like it has a slight angle to it.

Also, I think a shorter wall attachment (whatever you call it) looks better compared to a longer one.

BTW, I wonder how controllable these lamps are. I could imagine the bulb slamming to the wall when you swing the lever to the side.

You need to seriously consider selling these lamps. I’ve been reading some blogs and know that a lot of people want these. And if you do, I hope you stay below $100. Or at least have a 2-figure and a 3-figure product categories.

All the best.
