We wanted to offer a wall bracket that could convert plug-in pendant lamps to a wall mounted version. Like, if you wanted to use one of our pendant lamps as a bedside lamp but did not want to hang it from the ceiling. With this bracket, you could attach it to the wall at any height you want, hang the pendant from it and there you go! You may have seen similar solutions involving brackets with cords wrapped around but (knowing us) we wanted to offer something different and unique. Naturally, I thought we should make it out of molded plywood (if you haven't noticed by now, I'm obsessed with molding plywood). So after a few hours of prototyping, this is what we came up with.

Rather than sketching out ideas, I usually design new things with prototypes. I need to see and hold materials to get an idea of where the design is going. So, like always, we had a few quick mock-ups before we came up with something we were happy with.

We molded a piece plywood in a L-shape and sliced it into strips. I then routed a groove on the backside to hold the pendant cable in place against the wall when attached. I routed a notch at the front end to hold the cable in place where it hangs off of the bracket.

We glued a piece of leather in the notch to softly grip the cord. This helps hold the pendant at the desired height while protecting the cloth cord at the same time.

Along with all of the different wood species we offer, we also glued up some with marble laminate on the inside for a hybrid style. The pendant brackets are now in the shop and will work with any of our plug-in pendant lamps. Let me know what you guys think!
